Photo of So, what am I praying for?

This morning, Julie and I are with a small group from our Church Family worshiping at the Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York City. On Tuesday, we’ll participate in their Midday Prayer service and evening Prayer Meeting. In between, we’ll have the privilege of visiting with their pastors and learning more about how God has used prayer in the life of their church.

Over the course of the next several years, I hope to take more groups to see and experience what God is doing at the Brooklyn Tabernacle – sometimes, being away helps provide a fresh perspective. But exponentially more than that, my heart’s desire is to see and experience all God is going to do in OUR Church Family as WE learn and grow in the power of prayer and the presence of His Holy Spirit!

Someone once wrote that when we work, we work, but when we pray, God works. His character and strength are available to praying people who are convinced to the core of their beings that He makes the difference in our lives.

Some may try to tell us that answered prayers are only coincidences, but as William Temple, Archbishop of Canterbury in the 1940s, once stated, “When I pray, coincidences happen, and when I don’t, they don’t.

So, what am I praying for?

  • Well, let me start with the requests and reports you send in via the Prayer Cards (located in the chairs around you) or through our website (fbichurch.net/prayer).
  • Next, I’m asking the Lord to show up in a big way this morning as well as next week on Homecoming Sunday. I’m praying for the folks you’ve invited to come with you. I’m praying that God will speak clearly through His Word (we’ll be looking at John 16:25-33 and the VICTORY we have in Jesus). I’m praying that our Homecoming Meal will be a feast celebrating lives that have been made new in Christ!
  • Finally – at least for now – I’m praying I’ll see you Wednesday for Midweek Prayer!
