Since 1900, when Mrs. Walker Hawes’ pastor encouraged her to move her Everyday Bible School from a beer hall on New York City’s east side to Epiphany Baptist Church, churches all across the country have gathered each summer to host the week we now call Vacation Bible School.
Over the years, there have been many different themes, but the focus has always remained the same: introducing children to the life-changing message of Jesus Christ and helping
them strengthen their relationship with Him and His Word.
8 days from now (June 10– 13), almost 400 children will be on our campus to Start the Party! – singing the songs, playing the games, making the crafts, and hearing the message about Jesus! And with that in mind, I’d like to ask you to do three things:
1 – Help.
We can never have enough help. Know this — if you make yourself available, Leslie will have a place for you to jump in and serve.
2 – Pray.
If you haven’t already, start now. Pray for the kiddos. Pray for the leaders. Pray for the parents. Pray for the weather. Pray for Family Night. Pray for the opportunities we’ll have to share the Gospel.
3 – Follow-Up.
While VBS might conclude on Thursday evening, the next journey begins on Friday morning as we build on all that God has done. Be on the lookout for more information about how you can be involved in helping us strengthen the relationships God sends our way.
Let’s start this party!
