Of the many names of God, the Alpha and Omega are some of my favorites. It may be because I need a constant reminder that everything should begin and end with Him. It’s easy to plan something and ask God to bless it, but that is not what we are called to do. As followers of Christ, we are to do just that: follow. Follow Him where He leads, where He is already working. It must begin with Him if it is to end with Him. That is how the Acts 1:8 Summit began. Responding to a movement of God, and the Lord has sent many mission-minded, Kingdom-seeking individuals and families to join our faith family. Pastor Jonathan recognized this and knew we needed to respond.
But this is just the beginning! We serve a big God! Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that “He is able to do more than we can ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”
That pretty much sums up this past week. God moved in the hearts of people like only He can. It was His power, not ours. Taylor Field, our speaker Sunday evening, asked me what we wanted to come from the Summit. I responded, “that our people would see that they are uniquely gifted and positioned to do something great in the name of the Lord. They only need to say YES and let the Lord work.”
We asked the Lord for that, and He did way more than we asked. Thank you for saying yes! Yes, to showing others the love of Christ, to getting out of your comfort zone, so others may hear the Gospel; to giving from a place of abundance, and to loving our community. We are in the Alpha, the beginning. It’s exciting to see the Lord work among us.
In Christ,
Jen
P.S. — When you see the Mission team members, please give them a hug or a high five. Jeremy Dragon, Jodi Caprio, Kelly Brannon, and Sean Regan, you worked so hard, and it is appreciated.
