If she had her druthers, our eldest daughter, Stevens, would leave the Christmas tree up throughout the entire year, ornaments and all, and have the music of the season rotating regularly on all of our playlists. It would be Charlie Brown, the Grinch, Kevin McAllister, Buddy, and select Hallmark movies every week. Cookies and sweets are just a given. The girl loves Christmas. She is definitely her father’s daughter!
For almost 25 years, before God brought us to Indialantic, I had the privilege of serving as a music minister at churches in Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, and Louisiana. I’ll often say,
“I waved my arms for a living,” as most of my job description included building and leading choirs, orchestras, ensembles, and bands. So, for almost 25 years, summers had a bit of a different twist for me than most people, July in particular. Once the 4th had come and gone, and with it, whatever patriotic celebration we were presenting, the bulk of my attention
turned to “the most wonderful time of the year” and selecting choral music for that December’s Christmas program.
Why am I telling you all of this? (I’m so glad you asked!)
SAVE THE DATES: Sunday, September 15, and Sunday, December 15
On Sunday, September 15, we are going to kick off our first-ever (in a while) Christmas Celebration Choir, and I would absolutely love for you to be a part of it!
Rehearsals will be on Sundays, 4:10 – 5:30 p.m., and are open to all our students and adults, whether you’ve ever sung in a choir before or this would be your first time ever!
We will then present our efforts on Sunday morning, December 15, in both services. This is an incredible opportunity to invite friends, family, neighbors, and everybody else to hear about the greatest gift that has ever been given!
I believe it was the great theologian Buddy the Elf who said,
The best way to spread Christmas cheer
is singing loud for the world to hear!
Yes, I know it’s still July… but I hope I’ll see you in September!
