Two or three times each day this week, they’d gather right outside my office door in the hallway leading to the worship center. Whether it was the Dolphins, or the Starfish, or the Moose… whether they were coming from gymnastics, water balloon wars, or rocket building… it didn’t seem to matter…these kids got ENERGY!
What an incredible week!
If I started listing everybody whom I needed to thank, I’m certain I would accidentally leave someone off; but hear my heart in this, we could NOT have done this without the wonderful team of folks who sacrificed their time this week to love, serve, and reach the kids and families in our community. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
As these same kids turn around and transition into the new school year (along with the rest of our community), I want us to transition as well and begin praying for the upcoming year. Whether your child is homeschooled, in private school, public school, or a hybrid of all the above… whether they’re entering Kindergarten or their Senior Year (or, like mine, heading off to college), I firmly believe they need us interceding on their behalf. With that in mind, allow me to offer a few thoughts on the matter:
Joshua 1:9
Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you where ever you go.
Be encouraged, the Lord is with our kids WHEREVER they go. You can praise Him for that!
Proverbs 10:9
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out. (NIV)
Let’s pray our kids walk with integrity this school year throughout all the challenges and circumstances they will face.
James 1:5
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, He should ask God – who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly – and it will be given to him.
God, give our children Your wisdom. Help them hear Your Spirit’s voice above all the others speaking to them. And give them the courage to follow and obey. There isn’t room enough to list all the Scriptures and suggestions for praying over our kids. The important thing is that we do it, we pray over our kids!
We’ve got work to do, Church! Let’s get to it!
